Note:BEWARE --During the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show in Feb.'03 there were unscrupulous dealers selling substitutes for Larimar (and calling it Larimar). This is fraud and illegal. The F.B.I. is now investigating this as a financial fraud that was perpetuated by crossing state and country borders to commit a crime. Some of the stones that were sold as Larimar are Aragonite from Peru, Amazonite and Blue Quartz from China, also Hemimorphite from China. If you were one of the unwitting customers or victims of this serious crime, please notify us or the F.B.I. Do not pass them on to your customers as Larimar. We will help you recover your money and prosecute these criminals.
Reflecting the azure blue waters of the Caribbean, Larimar is a recently discovered rare gemstone found in only one minesite on our Planet. Often mistaken for translucent Turquoise or fine blue Jade, Larimar beautifully mirrors the waters surrounding its island origin. Larimar's crystal vibrations and unique blend of colors have drawn many people to it. Scientifically, Larimar or Blue Pectolite is totally unique in it's mineral and chemical make-up. Copper, similar to Turquoise, is the cause of color. That is the only connection of Larimar to the ancient stone known as Turquoise. Sodium calcium silicate with a copper ion is the chemical description of Larimar.
This website includes the foremost scientific paper to date on Larimar, co-authored by Dr. Bob Woodruff in conjunction with the Gemological Institute of America (G.I.A.). They published their findings in the Winter 1989 issue of Gems and Gemology - the most prestigious gem magazine in the world. Our company owner/founder Charles Mark provided samples, on site information, photographs and devised the first Larimar color grading system, which is shown in this paper.
The full extent of Larimar's metaphysical qualities are still being revealed, but it is said the various colors each exert their own particular energy. Blue tones calm the spirit, greens assist healing, while red patterns strengthen the will.
Overall Larimar is associated with the Fifth Chakra and the Deva of the Blue Ray. Larimar works to bring truth to the communications process.

Larimar is the rare "Gemstone of the Caribbean®". Larimar, or Blue Pectolite, is only found in the Dominican Republic. This mineral is a mixture of beautiful Caribbean copper Blue-Green colors. Occasionally Hematite Dendrites, Calcite and Natrolite inclusions occur. This sought after stone is a relatively new discovery. The first Larimar specimens were apparently found in the latter half of the 20th century.
